During the Woven to be Visible exhibition, Sinkka will be filled with textile-based art that is based on the cultural meanings imbued in traditional patterns and weavings. One of the inspirations for the exhibition is Faig Ahmed, a global star from Azerbaijan who is also featured at the 2026 Venice Biennale. In his artworks, he uses classical weaving techniques of Oriental carpets, but makes his “carpets” look as if they are melting or stretching out of their original form.

In addition to Faig Ahmed, the exhibition features, for example, Japanese artist Aiko Tezuka; Annika Ekdahl, one of Sweden’s most beloved tapestry artists; and Malin Bobeck Tadaa, who creates pulsating light sculptures using optical fibres. Also pushing the boundaries of weaving is London-based artist Goshka Macuga. She brings to the exhibition a four-metre-long tapestry viewable with 3D glasses, transporting the viewer into the midst of a fire-ravaged landscape along with forest animals.
