A New “Circus Bambi” Artwork to Be Built in Salavapuisto

The City of Kerava is renovating Salavapuisto in Savio this year. As part of the renovation, a public artwork will be installed in the park to delight especially children. The piece will be completed by autumn 2026 at the latest.

The theme chosen for the artwork is “Circus Bambi”, drawing on Kerava’s fairground and circus history. The sculpture will bring a touch of magic to the playground and invite children into imaginative play.

The artwork will bring much‑needed public art to the Savio district. Currently, Savio has no public artworks apart from two sculptures located near the Klondyke building.

Sculptor Jasmin Anoschkin Will Create the Artwork for Kerava

The artist selected for the public artwork is sculptor Jasmin Anoschkin, who worked in Kerava early in her career. Anoschkin is best known for her colourful ceramic and wooden sculptures. Her works have been seen in Kerava in 2024 at the “Carnival of Clay” exhibition at Sinkka, as well as in the “Puumorsian ja metsän häät” exhibition held at the former Kerava Art Museum in 2010–2011.

“Bambis have been adventuring in my work since 2007, made from materials such as wood and ceramics. Now it’s time for the first cast‑metal piece. My bambis often skateboard, pretend to be pandas, or cook,” Anoschkin says.

The Bambi coming to Salavapuisto can be “fed,” “watered,” and petted.

A Sustainable Artwork Made of Recycled Metal

The artwork will be created from recycled metal, a durable and long‑lasting material that requires little maintenance. The molds used in the casting process will be recycled, and the metal will be melted using energy‑efficient equipment.

The renewal of Salavapuisto has been designed together with local residents as part of a broader renovation project.
